    "Executive Functioning for Neurodivergent Adults"

Support professionals, advocates and workplace managers can support neurodivergent adults strengthen executive functioning (EF) skills - the skills used to plan, start, organize, shift, and complete tasks, especially when demands rise or plans change.

Our professional speakers, Mrs. Danielle Moore; M.A.Ed., CCC-SLP and Dr. Angelica Gunn-Phipps CCC-SLP-D will provide have years of experience in working with adults including improving college, career work, social and workplace relationships, and independent living, which can drastically improve confidence and day-to-day stability.

EF support is most effective when it’s individualized by building systems for planning and prioritizing. Common tools include routines and checklists, calendars and reminders, backward planning from deadlines, note-taking or visual cues, environmental setup, accountability structures, “if-then” coping plans, and strategies for self-advocacy and accommodations.

Individuals with EF challenges may also require support in areas such as social communication, which can include reading context, navigating workplace or college expectations, managing conflict, and planning conversations.

    WHAT GANCC MEMBERS WILL LEARN:

Neurodivergent adults & advocates will gain new strategies to navigate executive functioning challenges, clarify support needs, and secure effective accommodations.

Support professionals will gain a deeper executive functioning framework - plus practical examples of neurodiversity-affirming language they can use right away.

Georgia businesses will learn how to identify and implement neurodiversity-affirming workplace practices through an executive functioning lens so supports are applied consistently to improve performance and strengthen retention.

The Cottage School will be hosting our April Networking Breakfast at their school to discuss their NEW:

    Roswell Career Academy

The Cottage School NEW The Roswell Career Academy – a post-high school life program for Georgia students.

    April 23, 2026

    8:30am - 10:45am

The Cottage School launched its Career Center at the start of the 2025–2026 school year with a new Senior Cohort and an expanded lineup of career-focused electives for high school students. Offerings include Auto Mechanics, Career Skills, Handyperson Skills, and hands-on, experiential life-skills coursework designed to help students build real-world independence.

The response from both students and parents has been clear: these opportunities are working, and families want their adult children the continued support beyond graduation.

To meet that need, The Cottage School is preparing to launch a new postsecondary program for the 2026–2027 school year, tentatively called the Roswell Career Academy. This yearlong program will be open to newly graduated Georgia adults with direct teaching of the skills students need to thrive in their personal lives, working lives, and social lives. Participants will receive support in finding, obtaining, and keeping a job, along with ongoing academic support - whether it’s college, tech school, or workforce training.

GANCC members and all community partners are invited to join us for our All Community Networking event at The Cottage School to learn more about the Career Center and the upcoming Roswell Career Academy. Attendees will have the opportunity to tour the facility, meet the team, and ask questions. A light breakfast with coffee and tea will be provided by Rise Coffee + Tea.
